Clinical Pharmacist

Due to internal promotions we have vacancies within the pharmacy team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist to join our team. You will gain valuable clinical knowledge and experience across all specialties and be supported through a rotational clinical training programme. You will also be encouraged to study for a PG Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (funding dependent).

Someone with excellent communication and organisational skills you will have a desire to thrive and learn in a clinically focused team.

Applications are welcome from qualified pharmacists and trainee pharmacists due to qualify summer 2026.

Main duties of the job

Following a structured induction programme you will join our team providing clinical pharmacy services, as part of an operational rotation in order to facilitate the provision of safe, effective and cost-effective pharmaceutical care.

Rotations include general medicine, general and specialist surgery, orthopaedics, elderly care, emergency admissions, and stroke.

Provision of 24/7 access to pharmacy services including evening, weekend and bank holiday working to provide;

  • Clinical pharmacy advice
  • Dispensing and supply services

To undertake a structured development and post-graduate training programme.

Personal Attributes & Skills

  • Ability to communicate in a range of circumstances (including with patient, carers, staff, other professionals, external customers etc.)
  • Ability to use variety of problem solving techniques, appropriate to different circumstances
  • Clear understanding of priorities and ability to formulate practical short-term plans in line with department strategy
  • Ability to use skills to make decisions in situations where there are several competing factors that require analysis
  • Ability to see situations holistically
  • Can take action based on own interpretation of broad professional policies/procedures where necessary
  • Demonstrates clear commitment to the team approach; exchanging ideas and providing support to colleagues

Knowledge & Experience

  • Pharmacy experience as part of trainee placements including Clinical Pharmacy (community, hospital practice or ICB), Dispensing and Extemporaneous dispensing
  • Hospital pharmacy experience post qualification or as part of training
  • Knowledge of hospital working practice

Qualifications & Training

  • MPharm 4 year pharmacy degree (or previously accredited BPharm or BSc Pharm)
  • Successfully completed trainee year and registration examination leading to Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC), (or other accredited route to membership for non-UK trained pharmacist). Or Expected to pass registration exam and register with the GPhC prior to role commencing
