An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse or ODP to undertake a Band 6 role within the specialty of General theatre scrub. This post will involve cross-site working within the Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help carry our service forward during this time. You will provide a high standard of care to patients requiring pre- and post-operative surgical intervention in a demanding and complex environment. You should already have considerable post-registration theatre experience and possess a post-registration mentorship or equivalent teaching qualification.

Managerial skills include staff recruitment and retention, reducing and managing sickness absence, staff appraisals, risk assessment, and team coordination.

Staff training and education, including clinical governance and clinical supervision, are essential to support the development of the team.

Our theatre team is multidisciplinary, including Theatre Support Workers, Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Surgeons, and Anaesthetists. We deliver high standards of patient care throughout the perioperative journey. We cover many specialties including general surgery, trauma, obstetrics, urology, colorectal, orthopaedic, and gynaecology. Our theatres are cross-site, with 6 at Hartlepool and 11 at North Tees.

Working in a leadership position within the General Scrub specialty, you will ensure high standards of care, patient safety, and the efficient delivery of perioperative services. This involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and manage daily operations.

A key part of the role will be to work with the theatre management team to initiate new ways of working in support of the Trust’s transformation of services and to drive productivity and efficiency in an increasingly changing and challenging economic environment.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, our main priority is to provide safe, high-quality care to our patients every day—care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We aim to be the best place to work, with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We support staff through an inclusive and supportive workplace, with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; we celebrate staff achievements through Star and Team of the Month awards, colleague recognition notes, Managers Awards, Shining Stars, and Service Awards.

We promote the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

We recruit based on values and believe that “Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”.
