Main Purpose Of Job
- Using the company approved Purchasing system Shipsure
- Compliance with Purchasing policy and procedures and Safety Management System.
- Ensure goods and services are purchased at competitive prices and are fit for purpose regarding safety, function and certification.
- Ensure that North Star framework agreements are used whenever possible.
- Sourcing suppliers.
- Sending RFQs for goods and services.
- Summarising and analysing quotations.
- Creating Purchase Orders.
- Expediting Purchase Orders, keeping requestor(s) advised of delivery issues.
- Enter receipts against Purchase Orders.
- Liaise with engineering superintendents and other internal customers.
- Be assertive and tactful with suppliers and customers.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers and accounts payable to ensure timely payment of invoices.
- Be methodical with Requisitions, RFQs, Quotations, Order acknowledgements and Delivery notes to ensure that there is a clear audit trail.
- Maintenance of Shipsure records to ensure POs are receipted and closed on a timely basis.
- Complete and return to freight agent customs clearance instruction form(s) for imported goods in liaison with Freight Agent.
- Arrange supplier returns when necessary.
- Cover when Purchasing colleagues are absent.
- Carry out other duties as may be reasonably required.

Qualifications/Training
- Procurement background.
- Experience in a similar role preferred (ideally Marine / Oil & Gas / Engineering sector).
- Business Studies and/or CIPS qualification preferred.
- Experience in use of Microsoft Excel applications.
- Experience in use of procurement modules in an ERP system.

- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team, and under pressure.
- Mature, professional approach to work.
- Patience in order to work to tight deadlines.
