Fleet Manager

Full-Time No working from home possible
North Star Shipping

Every day, North Star vessels operate in some of the most demanding marine environments in the world. Our ERRVs, MRSVs and PSVs provide safety-critical support to the offshore energy industry, delivering essential services that keep people safe, assets protected and operations running.

We're looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of vessels and ensure they operate safely, compliantly, efficiently and profitably. This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for vessel performance, technical integrity, client delivery, crew effectiveness and financial results.

You'll act as North Star's delegated asset owner, balancing operational excellence with commercial performance while working closely with Masters, clients and shore‑based specialists to maximise reliability, safety and service delivery.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the safe, compliant and efficient operation of a portfolio of offshore vessels.
  • Driving vessel availability, operational readiness and technical performance.
  • Managing maintenance programmes, repairs, dry dockings and vessel improvement initiatives.
  • Overseeing vessel budgets, expenditure, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Supporting crew performance, welfare, engagement and development.
  • Championing safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement across your fleet.
  • Delivering vessel performance that consistently exceeds client and business expectations.

What we're looking for

You may be a current Fleet Manager, Vessel Manager, Senior Technical Superintendent, Chief Engineer or Master Mariner ready to step into a broader leadership role with greater operational and commercial accountability. You'll bring significant experience in vessel operations and asset management, with a strong understanding of maritime legislation, class requirements, safety management systems, maintenance programmes, dry dockings and technical projects.

Just as importantly, you'll be a credible and commercially minded leader with experience managing budgets, operational performance and diverse stakeholders. You'll have the resilience, judgement and communication skills to build strong relationships with crews, clients, suppliers and colleagues, making sound decisions that deliver safe, reliable and commercially successful outcomes in a dynamic offshore environment. Experience within offshore energy, marine services, ERRV, PSV, MRSV, offshore wind or specialist vessel operations would be advantageous.

Why North Star?

North Star is the UK's leading integrated ship owner and operator, delivering mission‑critical services to the offshore energy industry. As our fleet continues to evolve, this role offers the opportunity to influence performance across a diverse vessel portfolio while helping shape the future of offshore operations.

You’ll join a business with ambitious growth plans, strong values and a genuine commitment to safety, people development and operational excellence.

Join North Star and take ownership of the vessels, people and performance that keep offshore operations moving safely and successfully.
