How to prepare for a job interview at North Star Consulting (UK)

Know Your Numbers

As a Management Accountant, you’ll need to be on top of your game with FRS105 and FRS102 accounts. Brush up on these standards before the interview, and be ready to discuss how you've applied them in your previous roles. This will show that you’re not just qualified, but also experienced and confident in your knowledge.

Showcase Your Client Advisory Skills

The role involves client advisory work, so think about specific examples where you've successfully advised clients, especially SMB owner-managers. Prepare to share stories that highlight your ability to communicate complex financial information in an understandable way. This will demonstrate your value to potential employers.

Familiarise Yourself with Software

Since experience with Sage and Xero is mentioned, make sure you’re comfortable discussing your proficiency with these tools. If you’ve used them in past roles, be ready to explain how they helped streamline processes or improve client outcomes. If you haven’t, consider doing a quick online tutorial to get familiar with their features.

Prepare for Leadership Questions

With leadership experience being a key requirement, think about times when you’ve led a team or mentored colleagues. Be prepared to discuss your leadership style and how you’ve helped others grow in their roles. This will show that you’re not just a numbers person, but also someone who can inspire and develop talent within the firm.
