Job overview
The Darwin Centre Adolescent Tier 4 Inpatient Service is offering the opportunity for Agile Working and working from home options for the right candidate. This position is for a Consultant Clinical Psychologist to work within the Darwin Centre. The post-holder will be a Highly Motivated member of the Darwin Centre senior leadership team, providing clinical leadership to psychologists and psychological professionals developing and embedding psychological and trauma-informed approaches within the service.
The role will involve direct clinical work with patients, clinical consultation, leadership and oversight of the psychology team within the Darwin Centre and the Intensive Support Hub, teaching and training. An experienced and competent supervisor is required to supervise clinical colleagues and trainee psychologists. Leadership experience is essential, including strategic and workforce planning for the psychology team and contributing to the regional clinical advisory group.
Experience in DBT, working with individuals with high levels of risk and vulnerability and those with Autism is essential.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for team delivery of highly specialist psychological care to adolescent inpatients with highly complex mental health conditions which may include challenging behaviours and possible risk of harm to self or others.
- To provide clinical supervision and training to less experienced colleagues within the designated psychology service and to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- To undertake formal research as a major part of the job and act as field supervisor to doctorate trainees.
- To lead continual service improvement within own area.
- To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health or learning disabilities.
- To promote at all times a positive image of the service and the wider Trust.

Qualifications
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical / counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
Experience
- Must have substantial experience of working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups including both child and adult, with a range of clinical severity across care settings.
