North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council and delivers the following services:
- Maintaining 1,100km of North Somerset highways including surface repairs, winter maintenance, gully management, drainage and kerbing repairs, signage and linemarking, and 24/7 emergency response services.
- HGV Driver and mobile plant training, vehicle servicing and maintenance, event cleaning and other environmental and highway maintenance specialisms to commercial businesses.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) to lead our Highways team, based at Sandford, near Weston-super-Mare. Working as a member of the senior leadership team, you will have full accountability for the safe, efficient, and effective management of our Highways Cyclical and Reactive Maintenance Contract with North Somerset Council which commenced in April 2024. You’ll deliver on the annual Winter Maintenance Plan, cyclical services e.g. gully cleansing, and reactive maintenance such as pothole repairs and patching.
In the last 12 months, NSEC have proven to provide these services at best value and to an exceptional quality standard. We’re now searching for a candidate who can sustain and enhance those standards but also develop the business area and its capacity for growth and commercialisation.
We’d be interested to hear from candidates who have proven experience in managing highway maintenance or similar operations, especially with a service delivery management background.
Requirements:
- Proven experience of managing highway maintenance operations
- Qualified operator/technician with excellent working knowledge of Highways regulations
- Motivated to deliver a strong zero-harm safety culture
- Proven record of delivering lean, continuous improvement within a service environment
- Excellent IT, analytical and financial skills backed with good presentational skills
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and create strong client relationships
