Hours: 45 hours per week; (Split shifts between 0600hrs and 1800hrs)
North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council and delivers recycling, waste, highway, environmental and commercial services across the region.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervise the workshop team, making sure staff are trained, supported and working safely in line with company policies.
- Oversee fleet servicing, repairs and diagnostics, ensuring all work meets legal, manufacturer and quality standards while keeping downtime to a minimum.
- Promote a strong safety culture, investigate incidents and ensure equipment is operated and maintained correctly.
- Manage resources effectively through good planning, productivity, stock control and accurate record keeping.
- Provide technical guidance and make sound decisions on repairs or replacements, balancing safety, cost and efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and customers, ensuring value for money and timely delivery of reports and actions.
The ideal candidate will have:
- HGV City & Guilds level 3 or equivalent.
- Supervisory NVQ Level 3.
- Ability to work independently both safely and competently in a physically demanding role.
- Commercial Vehicle Technician (HGV) – 5+ years.
- Knowledge and application of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation incl. COSHH.
- Up to date knowledge of legislation in relation to vehicle maintenance and operator licensing.
