The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Civil Enforcement Officer to join our Parking Services team. The Parking Services team cover enforcement of parking restrictions and Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) offences across the whole of North Somerset district.

The person will report directly to the Civil Enforcement Supervisor and will act in a senior responsible officer position. You will make decisions and give advice to other members of the team, within guidelines, particularly when working outside of normal core hours to maintain a fair and consistent approach to parking enforcement.

You will ensure officers safety and that they are briefed and debriefed each day with relivent information. You will train new staff and monitor existing staff for any training requirements and carry out enforcement checks as required and ensure daily checks of car parks and on-street are completed. You will also be required to carry out normal duties of a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Working hours will be on a fixed rota basis, 4 days on 2 days off, to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Full uniform and training provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring of team and deal with issues as they arise.
  • Checking vehicles in car parks and in-street enforcement areas to ensure they comply with the parking order and legislation.
  • Issuing parking enforcement notices and collecting evidence.
  • Collecting evidence of PSPO offence and blue badge misuse investigations.
  • Maintenance and checking of Pay and Display machines.
  • Health and Saftey checks to car parks.

The post-holder must have a valid driving licence or be able to use suitable alternative methods of travel throughout the district.

Work Style

However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development.

This role falls into the category of Mobile/Field Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

  • 0-1 day in the office.
  • Includes field workers who primarily work remotely.
  • Comes into the office for meetings or focused work Virtual connections with the team are essential, with portable technology supporting work on the go.
