About The Role
Finance Officer (CSD & HSC) – a role supporting the Corporate Services and Healthy & Sustainable Communities Directorates. You will provide financial support and advice to budget holders, service managers, and heads of service, helping them manage efficient, effective, and comprehensive financial services across a range of accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support managers and budget holders in monitoring their budgets.
- Assist with the production of financial returns, reports, and grant claims.
- Carry out journals and virements.
- Help with budget setting and the preparation of final accounts.
Work Style
The position is 12-month fixed-term maternity cover, flexible with a hybrid model: primarily working from home, 1–2 days per month in the office, and occasional in‑office meetings.
About You
We are looking for a well‑organised, resourceful, and numerate individual with excellent interpersonal skills and an understanding of public‑sector accounting. Candidates may be early in their careers, passionate about finance, and eager to learn about the business models that underpin services.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with finance and non‑finance colleagues.
- Positive approach to change and adaptability.
- Currently studying for the Association of Accounting Technician qualification (preferred but not essential).
