North Somerset Council is looking for an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join a small, friendly, and highly capable legal team. This is a permanent role with largely home-working and a genuinely varied caseload.
The work
This is not a bulk-processing role. You will handle a broad mix of civil and criminal litigation across a range of public law contexts, including planning enforcement, trading standards, licensing appeals, and judicial review pre-action protocol correspondence. Advisory work also features. If you like intellectual diversity in your day-to-day practice, this delivers it.
The team
Four lawyers. Supportive, experienced, and collaborative. Internal stakeholders who value the legal function. This is a team worth joining.
The practicalities
Court attendance is roughly twice a month, primarily at Weston-super-Mare and Bristol. The rest of your time is remote. You will need to be a confident advocate and comfortable with criminal procedure rules, but you do not need to have covered every element of the caseload already.
What's on offer
- Salary: £49,282 to £54,495
- Up to 34 days annual leave (plus the option to buy a further 10)
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Flexible and home working as standard
