North Scout are working with a well-established organisation on a major reporting and migration programme, and they are looking for an experienced Data Tester to join their team. You will play a key role in making sure reports built in Power BI are accurate, reliable, and perform as expected. This is a fully remote permanent role, perfect for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail and ensuring data is exactly as it should be.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Testing data on platform builds to ensure transformations are accurate and match the expected logic.
- Comparing legacy reports with new Power BI versions to ensure metrics and outputs line up.
- Checking Power BI dashboards, including filters, visuals, and user flows, to ensure everything works as intended.
- Writing and running test scripts, both manual and SQL-based, to validate data quality and report outputs.
- Logging issues in Azure DevOps, with clear steps and evidence for the engineering team.
- Monitoring report performance, load times, and real-world usage to ensure dashboards stand up under pressure.
Required skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of data structures, SQL querying, and report logic.
- Confident using Excel to interrogate data and check outputs.
- Experience with Power BI, particularly from a testing or QA perspective.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar for tracking test coverage, bugs, and documentation.
