North Scout are working with a well-established organisation on a major reporting and migration programme, and they are looking for an experienced Data Tester to join their team. You will play a key role in making sure reports built in Power BI are accurate, reliable, and perform as expected.
This is a fully remote permanent role, perfect for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail and ensuring data is exactly as it should be.
- Testing data on platform builds to make sure transformations are accurate and match the expected logic.
- Comparing legacy reports with new Power BI versions to ensure metrics and outputs line up.
- Checking Power BI dashboards, including filters, visuals, and user flows, to make sure everything works as intended.
- Writing and running test scripts, both manual and SQL-based, to validate data quality and report outputs.
- Logging issues in Azure DevOps, with clear steps and evidence for the engineering team.
- Keeping an eye on report performance, load times, and real-world usage to make sure dashboards stand up under pressure.
Strong technical knowledge of data structures, SQL querying, and report logic is required. You should be confident using Excel to interrogate data and check outputs. Experience with Power BI, particularly from a testing or QA perspective, is essential. Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar for tracking test coverage, bugs, and documentation is also important.
