North Scout are working in partnership with a major corporate client, looking to appoint a Data Operations Engineer to play a hands-on role within their established Data function. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in Data Operations or Engineering, who’s keen to build on their experience in a collaborative, delivery-focused setting.

The role:

  • As part of a Consultancy team, you’ll be embedded within the client’s data function, helping to ensure the smooth running of daily data operations.
  • You’ll work closely with both technical colleagues and stakeholders across the business to support reliable, well-documented data processes.
  • This will include:
  • Monitoring and supporting daily data loads and pipeline activity.
  • Writing and refining SQL queries to transform, validate and extract data.
  • Investigating and resolving data quality issues and anomalies.
  • Responding to internal data queries and providing ad hoc extracts where needed.
  • Maintaining and administering access to data via SharePoint and other channels.
  • Contributing to documentation and ensuring processes are clearly recorded.
  • You’ll also gain exposure to a number of modern tools, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Power BI, and Power Automate. Prior experience with these is a bonus, but not essential — training and support will be provided.
  • With this in mind, we’re keen to speak to individuals who can demonstrate:

    • Solid SQL skills and experience working with structured data in a commercial environment.
    • An understanding of how data pipelines and integration processes work in practice.
    • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, methodical approach to problem-solving.
    • Confidence working independently as part of a remote consultancy delivery team.
    • Any exposure to Azure, Power BI or similar tools would be advantageous.
