We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Phlebotomist to join our team. We have one position available to work 16hrs per week.
Main duties of the job:
- Conducting blood tests
- Measuring blood pressure
- Wound Care, ECG's and administering flu and covid vaccines, B12, Shingles, Pneumonia and RSV injections (advantageous)

North Preston Medical Practice is a large family friendly, high achieving practice, with a dedicated team of caring staff. You will be a member of a very dedicated team which includes 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate, 2 HCA's, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, a dedicated Pharmacy Technician Team and a robust management / clerical team. In May 2023 we were rated as number 2 in a Lancashire Evening Post review of GP Practices in and around Preston. North Preston Medical Practice is proud of the care we give our Patients. We are active members of the Greater Preston Primary Care Network and a long and well established training practice and a silver partner with Manchester University.
Job responsibilities:
- ECG recording
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Weight Management
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Ordering of stock
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
- Administrating Influenza, COVID, Shingles, Pneumococcal, RSV and B12 injection under the supervision of the Practice Nurse in accordance with practice protocol and PSD.

In the performance of the duties the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines

- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards

Person Specification:
Experience:
- Experience working within General Practice
- Use of EMIS Web
Knowledge and skills:
- Ability to provide quality care
- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions
- Adaptable to change
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of EMIS Web and ICE Pathology Requests
Other:
- Well motivated and flexible to adapt to the Practices developmental needs

Qualifications:
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Completion of an accredited GPA training program is required, often involving 2 clinical and 3 non-clinical areas
- Care Certificate: Skills for Care, Skills for Health and Health Education England
- Demonstrable Competency in Chronic Disease Reviews
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Qualified to administer Flu, COVID, B12, Shingles, Pneumonia and RSV vaccinations (although training can be provided for this)
