The Nurse Associate will work as a member of the General Practice Nursing team under the guidance of a Registered General Nurse and support the organisation and facilitation of clinical care in a holistic and proactive manner to patients registered at the practice.

Main duties of the job- You will maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all practice protocols/policies & guidelines, as well as provide nursing assistance to the GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team.
- The role of the Nursing Associate needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within the health service delivery.
- It is essential that the Nursing Associate works within their own level of competency and expands their role in accordance with practice requirements and own scope of practice.

You will be a member of a very dedicated team which includes 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 HCA's, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, a dedicated Pharmacy Technician Team and a robust management / clerical team.

Job responsibilities- Deliver high quality, compassionate care while undertaking specific clinical and care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered care professional) with a focus on promoting good health and independence.
- Provide high-quality holistic and person-centred care to individuals as part of their QOF reviews.
- Provide routine care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
- Provide wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
- Work as part of the MDT to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision and ensure delivery of nursing associate duties.
- Improve the safety and quality of care at every opportunity.
- Contribute to the delivery of integrated care.
- Work with the nursing team to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace and enable you to deal effectively with the difficult issues that people present.
- Provide support and supervision to healthcare assistants, students and those on learning assignments/placements as required.
- Support registered nurses to enable them to focus on the more complex clinical care.
- Develop relationships across the MDT to support the integration of the role across health and social care including primary care, secondary care and mental health.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient health records ensuring that clinical data is appropriately recorded with SNOMED codes.
- Perform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations and pulse including appropriate coding.
- Provide flu vaccinations, COVID vaccinations, pneumonia vaccinations, shingles vaccinations, RSV vaccinations, Whooping Cough vaccinations, Depot injections, Zoladex/Prostap injections, ECGs and venepuncture and other relevant clinical tasks as required and in line with the competencies of the role.
- Promote health and wellbeing to all patients, for example undertaking the NHS health check.
- Provide support during minor operations and family planning clinics as required.
- Working in primary care.
- Experience of undertaking clinical interventions and observations (i.e. ECGs, blood glucose monitoring, venepuncture, non-complex wound care).
- Experience of providing person-centred, holistic care in a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge on EMIS Web and INR Star.
