The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable GP Assistant to join our team. We have one position available to work 16 hours per week. Experience working within General Practice is required.
Main duties of the job:
- Conducting health reviews
- Wound care reviews
- Measuring blood pressure
- Taking blood tests
- Dealing with chronic health conditions
- Administering flu and COVID vaccines, B12, Shingles, Pneumonia and RSV injections (advantageous)

You will be a member of a very dedicated team which includes 5 GP Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nursing Associate, 2 HCAs, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, a dedicated Pharmacy Technician Team and a robust management/clerical team. In May 2023 we were rated as number 2 in a Lancashire Evening Post review of GP Practices in and around Preston. North Preston Medical Practice is proud of the care we give our patients. We are active members of the Greater Preston Primary Care Network and a long and well-established training practice and a silver partner with Manchester University.
Job responsibilities:
- ECG recording
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Long term conditions management
- Weight Management
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Ordering of stock
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
- Assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
- Administering Influenza, COVID, Shingles, Pneumococcal, RSV and B12 injections under the supervision of the Practice Nurse in accordance with practice protocol and PSD.

Person Specification:
Experience: Experience working within General Practice, use of EMIS Web.
Knowledge and skills: Ability to provide quality care, good interpersonal and communication skills, good organisational skills, good team working skills, effective time management skills, ability to work independently following verbal or written instructions, adaptable to change, computer literate.
Other: Well motivated and flexible to adapt to the Practice's developmental needs, willing to work across 2 sites.
Qualifications: GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths, Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), completion of an accredited GPA training program is required.
