We have an exciting opportunity for either a P&I Claims Director or Senior Claims Executive to join our Asia Pacific team based in the UK. As a P&I Claims Director you will manage high-volume and complex P&I claims, ensuring efficient resolution in line with policies. You will foster strong relationships with Members and brokers, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with other teams such as FD&D, Underwriting, and Loss Prevention. You will also support business development and contribute to the improvement of claims handling processes. A key aspect of the role is building a high-performing, inclusive team, while adhering to company policies and demonstrating professionalism. There will also be opportunities to travel to Asia as part of the role to visit our offices and Members.
What will you be doing?
- Manage high-volume and complex P&I claims, ensuring efficient and cost-effective resolution in line with policies and procedures.
- Assisting with Member enquiries relating to current geopolitical and industry issues.
- Appointing and managing a variety of third-party service providers such as lawyers, surveyors, consultants and correspondents.
- Cultivate strong relationships with Members and brokers, delivering excellent service.
- Mentor, supervise, and manage colleagues in the P&I Claims function.
- Collaborate closely with FD&D, Underwriting, and Loss Prevention teams on claims handling, risk identification, and relationship management.
- Prepare agendas, reports, and update the Sector on significant developments as requested.
- Assist with audits, peer reviews, and the improvement of claims handling and operational processes.
- Support business development activities and networking with Members and customers.
- Help create a high-performing, inclusive team environment, ensuring proper workload management and colleague wellbeing.
- Adhere to company-wide rules, policies, and procedures, demonstrating professionalism and contributing to claims initiatives and expertise groups.
About you
- Degree (preferably in Law) OR equivalent (e.g. Master Mariners Certificate) OR experience gained handling claims in a P&I club or shipping company.
- Understanding of P&I claims and the P&I insurance industry.
- Understanding of P&I Rules and integrated Claims Department Procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
- Willingness to travel.
- Willingness to undertake IG PANDIQ exams or read IG PANDIQ material where the material is relevant to the role.
- Ability to assist with cases in a controlled, efficient and cost-effective manner.
