Overview

This role will work as part of the Digital team to develop, manage, and support web systems and applications within North Northamptonshire Council, ensuring high-quality digital solutions that meet user needs and align with strategic objectives.

Principal responsibilities

  • Lead and manage web development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the set objectives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the corporate website, and other online platforms.
  • Collaborate with service owners, content designers, and user experience teams to guide web development.
  • Identify and resolve issues with existing web services promptly.
  • Work in a flexible and agile manner to ensure continuous improvement in development processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in web development.
  • Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate processes and standards in all web development activities.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain and support the corporate website to ensure it is robust, secure, compliant and delivers effective and intuitive experiences for users.
  • Continue to develop the design and functionality of the corporate website and other online services using Storybook, Next.js, GraphQL, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and other development frameworks.
  • Create and manage front-end user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React.
  • Work flexibly on a range of projects, balancing new development and support activities.
  • Manage tools and platforms such as Platform.sh and Cloudflare for efficient development processes.
  • Advise on solutions and opportunities to further enhance systems and tools, and improve performance and efficiency in delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with part of a small development team alongside colleagues from across the organisation.
  • Demonstrate commitment towards the delivery of the Council\'s vision, key commitments, values, and behaviours.
  • Ensure corporate processes are followed and implemented for all areas of the post-holder\'s work and responsibility.
  • Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope, and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
