We are looking for an experienced professional to join us on a six-month temporary contract as a Principal Transport Planner.
Sitting within the Highways service of our Place & Economy directorate, this role is a key part of our Transport Strategy team. Working with public transport and sustainable transport officers, as well as other transport planning staff, you will develop policies, strategies, and investment schemes to help the Council meet its transport improvement goals while addressing the climate emergency.
What will you be doing?
You will lead the development and implementation of schemes promoting walking, cycling, and other activities (such as travel plans) to encourage sustainable travel options.
About you
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you should have significant experience in transport planning or policy, particularly in strategy development and public consultation. Good project and programme management skills, along with experience in partnership working, are required. Experience with Local Transport Plans, Local Plans, or managing transport schemes/projects will be advantageous.
