About the Role

As an Out of Hours Approved Mental Health Professional (OoH AMHP) you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults outside of core working hours (Mon - 5:00pm – 9:00am). This is a unique opportunity for an experienced AMHP who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can make high‑quality, autonomous decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults outside of core working hours.
  • Undertake urgent Mental Health Act assessments, working collaboratively with partner agencies while maintaining professional independence and applying relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to best practice and act as a role model for high standards in Adult Social Care.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Dynamic, innovative and committed professional who is passionate about delivering high‑quality services.
  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983, as amended 2007) and the Care Act (2014).
  • Proven ability to work independently in high‑pressure situations.
  • Strong multi‑agency working experience and communication skills.
  • Registered with the relevant professional body (Social Work England, NMC, HCPC).
  • Current AMHP approval and evidence of post‑qualifying experience and ongoing CPD as an AMHP.
  • Demonstrated strong partnership working with agencies such as NHS, Police, Ambulance, care providers and advocacy services.
