About the role

North Northamptonshire Council's Technology, Digital and Data team are looking for a customer‑focused, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join us. Our team has big plans and grand ambitions to be an inspirational local government IT service, for which we’re seeking talented individuals to help us achieve those goals.
As an IT Contracts and Procurement Officer, you will collaborate closely with teams across the IT Department to provide guidance on contract management, procurement processes, and internal governance. You will support the management of contract‑related budgets and work in partnership with the IT Business Administration team to support invoicing, ordering, and financial queries alongside the Service Delivery teams. This role will involve building and managing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as procurement and governance teams, internal management, end‑customer services and teams across IT.
What will you be doing?
- Working closely with IT Management and key service areas across the council, providing advice and support on medium/low‑value procurements, contract and supplier management.
- You will also support the IT Business Administration team, helping to ensure smooth financial and administrative processes.
- You’ll attend contract meetings with stakeholders, assisting with financial, contractual and best‑practice related queries, such as invoicing routes, internal procedures and a key role in keeping operations running efficiently while building strong working relationships across the organisation.
- Working alongside the Contracts and Procurement Manager, you’ll help tailor and refine contractual strategy across the service and ensure all contracts are tracked, managed and works planned in effectively.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, someone highly organised and able to effectively manage multiple moving parts. You will have strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail, able to put yourself in the position of the customer, acting as an enabling champion for the team and services, delivering a strong Technology function for the Councils and importantly the residents we support.
