This is your chance to join North Northamptonshire Council’s Housing Management Service as a Caretaker at a time of real change and investment. We’re reshaping our service to be more visible, proactive and closer to tenants than ever before – and Caretakers are at the very heart of this transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the communal areas and spaces are well maintained, safe and welcoming for all residents.
  • Work closely with Neighbourhood Housing Officer, tenants and local communities to create a place that residents are proud to live in.
  • Carry out regular inspections of the facilities, grounds, communal areas, stairwell and corridors and fire alarm testing.
  • Keep shared spaces such as stairwells, bin stores and walkways clean, safe and presentable.
  • Spot issues early and report repairs, hazards and health & safety concerns quickly.
  • Act as a visible and approachable presence, helping deter anti-social activities.
  • Work alongside Housing Officers to tackle fly-tipping or vandalism.
  • Take pride in your work and make sure tenants can see and feel the difference you make.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Play a key role in keeping our estates and communal spaces safe, clean and well cared for.
  • Carry out regular inspections of facilities, grounds, communal areas, stairwells, corridors and fire alarm testing.

  • Report repairs, hazards and health & safety concerns quickly.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence to deter anti-social activities.
  • Collaborate with Housing Officers to tackle issues such as fly-tipping or vandalism.
