Relief contract based at West Glebe Centre, Forest Gate Road, Corby. The role involves shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with availability required on alternate weekends.

About the role:

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Needs Assessment Officer to join our Specialist Support for Younger Adults with Disabilities team at the Corby base. In this role you will work with Managers and Community Enablement Workers (CEWs) to assess and understand the individual needs of younger adults living in the community. You’ll play a key part in ensuring that each person receives the right support to live independently and confidently, making a genuine difference in the lives of others.

What will you be doing?

Overall Job Purpose: In accordance with the Care Act 2014 and North Northamptonshire Council’s service plans, you will carry out strength‑based assessments, identify and deliver care needs, and work with individuals, carers and multi‑agencies to enable people to maintain or regain independence and safety within the community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload by conducting statutory assessments and reviews in line with best practice.
  • Provide goal‑setting and support plans, encouraging access to community services and ensuring equality and diversity in service delivery.
  • Assess and manage risks to individuals and others, supporting positive risk‑taking.
  • Provide impartial information and guidance, including financial advice within budgetary limits.
  • Prioritise tasks, manage own workload, and ensure timely completion of assessments and reviews.
  • Maintain concise, accurate, and timely case records using appropriate IT systems.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to improve collaboration and support coordination.
  • Demonstrate awareness of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social, and welfare needs.

About you:

  • Degree or equivalent/QCF level 3 with experience in Social Care or willingness to work towards this (Health & Social Care).
  • Good knowledge of Adult Social Care procedures and Health and Social Care policies.
  • GCSE grade C and above or equivalent in English.
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the Care Act 2014 to ensure compliance.
  • Understanding of relevant national and local policy issues in Adult Social Care.
  • Knowledge of cultural differences and commitment to equality of opportunity.
  • Excellent report‑writing, listening, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with people, families, providers, and the wider community.
  • Strong prioritisation skills, case accountability, and the capacity to manage complex cases.
  • Aware of employment equality and the safe working practices that apply to this role.
  • Experience working with people with care and support needs.
  • Proficiency in using various IT packages and systems, with accurate data entry and analysis.
  • Understanding of Data Protection guidance.
