About the role
Join our Regulatory Team as a Legal Officer for Housing Disrepair. We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Housing Disrepair Officer to join our in-house Legal Services team to take a leading role in managing housing disrepair claims and related legal matters. Working closely with the client service you will coordinate the investigation and resolution of housing disrepair cases, helping to deliver excellent outcomes while safeguarding the organisation's interests.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of housing legislation, claims management, and dispute resolution processes, alongside excellent communication and case management skills. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality services, driving continuous improvement, and making a positive impact on residents and communities.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a specialist in Housing Disrepair to join our in-house legal team. The role will require you to undertake a caseload of work including:
- Manage a caseload of routine housing disrepair matters under supervision.
- Prepare bundles, evidence packs, schedules and draft correspondence for cases.
- Gather case information from client officers and provide routine advice on liability and quantum.
- Conduct routine advocacy, attend property inspections where appropriate, and participate in hearings as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate Iken/case management system records and evidence logs.
- Liaise with surveyors, housing officers, tenants and external parties to progress cases.
- Respond promptly to correspondence from external firms and promote timely case progression.
- Contribute to improving templates, letters and workflows.
About you
You will:
- Have a Law Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Have partial qualifying work experience and/or working towards qualification within 18 months.
- Have evidence of continuing professional development.
- Have experience managing a routine caseload under supervision.
- Have knowledge of housing disrepair precaution protocols and litigation processes.
- Understand liability and quantum assessments in routine housing disrepair cases.
