About The Role
North Northamptonshire Council – NN Leisure team are looking to appoint an Active Communities Worker who will join our Active Families team. The programme will support more North Northamptonshire residents to participate in physical activity, make positive lifestyle changes and encourage regular long‑term participation to improve their health, mental and physical wellbeing. The project will deliver a varied activity programme across North Northamptonshire that meets the needs of families on their doorstep, ensuring that residents of all ages have the opportunity to try new activities and sports, move more and live healthier lifestyles.
Key Details
• Part‑time role: 20 hours per week
• Location: North Northamptonshire (including Corby, Kettering, East Northants, Wellingborough). • Flexible working hours – early evenings and weekends may be required.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver a range of fun and engaging sport and activity programmes for families and residents in North Northamptonshire.
- Lead or support teams in various sports, exercise and play activities.
- Assist in the delivery and support of the annual large-scale Active Families Fundays events during summer.
- Support the Active Communities Team with Sportsleaders courses and other training development sessions.
- Assist with admin duties and develop evaluation reports for the Active Families project.
About You
- Hold at least one Level 2 or above qualification in play, sport or exercise based learning (e.g., Play Leader, NGB, ETM, Personal Instructor).
- Experience coaching/instructing and delivering sessions to a variety of age groups and adapting sessions for all abilities.
- Confident, outgoing, passionate, lively, and able to make sessions fun, exciting, progressive and educational.
- Ability to travel to various locations across Northamptonshire (Corby, Kettering, East Northants, Wellingborough).
- Flexible working hours, including early evenings and weekends.
