The role is for a Lead Safeguarding Officer in the Safeguarding in Education Team based in North Northants.

The team works closely with social care, education, and local authority partners to share information, develop safeguarding pathways and support schools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality safeguarding advice and support to schools and partners.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with educational and social care agencies.
  • Gather, analyse and present complex safeguarding information for individuals and groups.
  • Complete safeguarding practice reviews with settings to develop, improve and support practice.
  • Deliver targeted safeguarding training to Designated Safeguarding Leads, school staff and other multi‑agency colleagues.
  • Represent the service at multi‑agency meetings and conferences.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for diverse audiences.
  • Liaise with Local Authority professionals to share intelligence and provide a joined‑up approach to school improvement.
  • Work with partners and other services to address safeguarding issues such as neglect and child exploitation through conferences and network meetings.
  • Participate in the Local Authority auditing process on behalf of education (e. g., Care Planning, Thresholds, Missing/Return Home Interviews).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher, Qualified Social Worker or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of post‑graduate experience in a similar safeguarding role.
  • Current DBS check and references covering the last 3 years.
  • Proof of ability to work and live in the UK.
  • Clean UK driving licence and ability to commute independently.
