About The Role
Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) – 22 Hours – AMHP Team – North Northamptonshire. North Northamptonshire Council Adult Social Care is seeking an exceptional AMHP to join our dedicated AMHP Service as we continue our transformational journey. You will work a rota covering 9:00am – 9:00pm, contributing expertly to Mental Health Act assessments within a fast‑paced, often high‑pressure environment.
What will you be doing?
- Undertake statutory Mental Health Act assessments, working collaboratively with partner agencies while maintaining professional independence and upholding the highest standards of practice.
- Act as a role model, supporting colleagues and contributing to the development of excellent Adult Social Care practice.
- Provide evidence of post‑qualifying experience and ongoing CPD as an AMHP.
- Demonstrate effective multi‑agency working (e.g. NHS, Police, Ambulance, care providers, advocacy services).
- Other duties as required to meet the statutory obligations of the AMHP role.

- Be registered with the relevant professional body (e.g. Social Work England, NMC, HCPC).
- Hold current AMHP approval.

- Extensive knowledge of mental health legislation and best practice.
- Strong decision‑making skills and the ability to work independently.

About The Team
The North Northamptonshire AMHP Team delivers the statutory requirement for AMHP provision under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007). You will be part of a 24‑hour AMHP Service based at Haylock House, Kettering, supporting North and West Northamptonshire local authority areas. The role operates on a rolling rota of day shifts.
Salary & Benefits
- NNCSC Pay Band 22: £48,226 – £51,356 Pro Rata Plus £2,000 Advanced Practitioner Allowance
- 28 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time employees), plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 after 2 years’ continuous service and a further three after 5 years’ continuous service.
- Business mileage paid at 45p per mile.
