North Norfolk is an attractive rural district with a beautiful coastline, fantastic landscapes and big skies within easy reach of the fine city of Norwich. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Integrated Housing Adaptations Team. As a Housing Adaptations Officer you will work alongside a small team made up of assessing officers, technical officers and an occupational therapist. The purpose of the role is to assess applicants requesting adaptations to determine whether adaptations are necessary and appropriate. You will also work collaboratively with other services, advising people of potential adaptations and equipment options that are available to them. The aim of the service is to administer the council's Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) programme in the most efficient and cost‑effective way to enable individuals to remain safely living within their own homes, increase independence and reduce the need for formal care where possible.

Responsibilities

  • Assess applicants requesting housing adaptations by determining the necessity and appropriateness of adaptations.
  • Conduct holistic assessments of individuals' needs and advise on suitable adaptations and equipment options.
  • Work autonomously and plan and carry out your own workload efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other services and the Integrated Housing Adaptations Team to manage cases.
  • Promote the DFG programme and ensure it is delivered in a cost‑effective and timely manner.

  • Understanding and ability to comprehensively assess the holistic needs of individuals.
  • Experience working autonomously and managing a workload independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and a proactive, people‑focused attitude.
