To drive our lovely modern electric car, collecting passengers from their homes, and taking them to either medical appointments or other activities such as visits to the hairdresser or simply to see a family member. Most of our passengers are older people who may live alone and have limited access to transport. All your expenses are reimbursed, including travel to our base in North Walsham. We are a small but very happy team and welcome an informal chat or visit to see us if you are interested.
Time commitment: Dependent on you! A regular commitment (even once a fortnight) is appreciated as we ask all our drivers to undergo Passenger Assistant training, and we would need to carry out a DBS check.
About the organisation: North Norfolk Community Transport (NNCT) has been operating since 1999 as a registered charity, improving wellbeing and accessibility in the community and reducing social isolation. We are well established and are recognized for running a friendly and inclusive service. We provide a regular Dial-a-ride door-to-door mini-bus scheme, bringing people from rural North Norfolk into local market towns and taking them out on organized excursions. Many of our members describe our work as a lifeline, and without it, hundreds of people would lose their independence and be unable to access basic local services. Individuals get to know their driver, develop great friendships with their fellow passengers, and use their journey as a means of social contact and interaction.
