Waste Operative Loader: Waste Services is looking for a Waste Operative Loader. You will work as part of a collection team, collecting recycling boxes, bins, and sorting recyclable materials. Initially, you will work within the box recycling team, but after completing probation, you may support other collection teams within waste services.

The role is physically demanding and mostly outdoors in all weather conditions. No formal qualifications are required to enter this job; however, previous experience in the waste industry is desirable. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. Some experience with physical fitness, health and safety, and recycling skills can be helpful.

Key duties include:

  1. Collecting recycling scheme boxes and materials
  2. Sorting recyclables and checking that the correct materials are put out
  3. Inspecting materials for contamination and issuing rejection tickets
  4. Communicating with the public about recycling schemes and providing information
  5. Wearing the correct protective equipment at all times
  6. Carrying out all aspects of a loader for recycling collection rounds, including household collections across North Lincolnshire
  7. Attending training and engagement days on non-working weekdays, with prior notice

The service operates a 4-day shift system, working Tuesday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with 1 hour banked for training. Please refer to the attached job description and employee specification when completing your application to demonstrate that you meet the essential criteria.
