Overview
North Lincolnshire Council is recruiting a Technical Officer to work within the Environmental Protection Team. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a career supporting the work of a busy Environmental Protection Team.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to regulate a range of environmental disciplines including: Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control (IPPC); Contaminated Land Strategy and identification of Contaminated Land; Air Quality, Noise & Statutory Nuisance; Development Management and Licensing consultations
- Undertake work to secure compliance with the law for both business and residential premises
- Organise and undertake monitoring, surveying, sampling and measurement of environmental pollutants and noise
- With appropriate supervision, undertake the day to day operation of our air quality monitoring network and inspect a range of low risk premises/land to secure compliance with legislation
- Travel to different locations in North Lincolnshire and a full driving licence and transport are therefore essential
Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant degree in a scientific or environmental discipline
- Minimum of GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Active interest in pollution control and environmental protection
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills for dealing with conflict and complaints
- Be able to work in potentially physically demanding environments
- Full driving licence and transport are essential
Progression and Terms
Role involves grade Technical Officer Grade 5. The role presents the opportunity for future progression subject to knowledge, skills and experience and the availability of future vacancies. This role within Public Protection is supported by flexible and agile working arrangements.
