We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Social Worker to join our Children with Disabilities Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with children, young people, families and partner agencies to safeguard children, promote positive outcomes and support families to thrive.

About the Role

As a Social Worker within the Children with Disabilities Team, you will undertake assessments, provide targeted interventions and coordinate support plans to meet the needs of children and their families. Working within statutory frameworks and alongside experienced colleagues, you will contribute to safeguarding children while ensuring their voices, wishes and feelings remain at the centre of all planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process referrals, gather and analyse information, and recommend appropriate outcomes with support and supervision.
  • Undertake holistic assessments and enquiries under Section 17 of the Children Act, identifying safeguarding concerns and determining appropriate interventions.
  • Develop and implement plans to support disabled children, young people and their families, working closely with parents, carers and partner agencies.
  • Build effective partnerships with families and professionals to deliver a range of social work interventions that meet assessed needs.
  • Manage a caseload that may include Children in Need, Children in Need of Protection and Children in Care, with appropriate supervision.
  • Ensure all case records are maintained accurately and in line with departmental policies and statutory requirements.
  • Work within relevant legislation, policies and procedures to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Ensure children and young people's views, wishes and feelings are actively sought and considered, using alternative communication methods where required.
  • Support statutory supervision and case planning for children subject to public law orders, including children in care and those subject to supervision orders.
  • Contribute to assessments and court reports relating to Private Law Proceedings.
  • Support children and families through key transition points, including transitions to adulthood and movement between support plans and services.
