A rare opportunity to be part of a small team supporting Early Years settings in North Lincolnshire. The role of the Early Years Development Officer is to ensure high-quality early education and care through monitoring, evaluating, and supporting settings to meet the needs of all children. Additionally, where necessary, to provide challenge where there is potential for improvement for all types of Early Years Providers (Nurseries, Pre-schools, Childminders, Out of School Clubs, School Nurseries and Reception classes) across North Lincolnshire. As Development Officer, you will build relationships and work in partnership with settings and professionals in specific localities in North Lincolnshire.

Responsibilities

  • To provide advice, support and training to leaders and governance to enhance their knowledge and skills in delivering high quality inclusive early education.
  • To provide a high level of support and challenge to settings who are at risk or have not achieved an expected standard in an Ofsted inspection, including support with action planning.
  • To take a lead across the early years team on leadership and management in settings, providing training, opportunities for peer mentoring and where needed more intensive support.
  • To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children by promoting best practice in safeguarding practices and procedures within early years settings.
  • Developing and supporting in partnership action plans to address areas of identified weakness and promoting best practice.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of early years policies and statutory requirements.
  • Leading termly cluster meetings in your locality, sharing best practice and key messages with a particular focus on school readiness and transitions.
  • Effectively communicating with practitioners and managers as well as other stakeholders, building positive relationships to facilitate continuous improvement.

Level 3 Early Years Educator or equivalent as a minimum, with effective communication and report writing skills. Experience of working within and across a variety of early years education and childcare settings at a managerial level, in order to give advice on and maintain the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and Ofsted Framework. In-depth knowledge of child development, and experience in meeting individual children's developmental needs, including good knowledge of the early years assessment principles and practice. Candidates should have an in depth knowledge of the EYFS and OFSTED Education Inspection frameworks, with experience of challenging underperformance and improving the quality of provision. In-depth safeguarding knowledge. Candidates must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK. Please note the council does not hold a sponsor licence to sponsor people to work in the UK.
