The Vacancy

Our client is looking for a personal assistant to support their child, who has Level 2 Autism, Functional Neurological Disorder and anxiety. Their FND can lead to a variety of other challenges such as seizures, Tourette’s and temporary paralysis, which occur sporadically. They require support with daily routine, life skills, recreational activities, accessing the community; and may occasionally need support with personal care.

The successful candidate should be inclusive, open minded, resilient, have a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills. It is important for the successful candidate to be adaptable and be mindful that the health of the young person can fluctuate daily. This fluctuation requires a degree of flexibility and understanding, whereby the successful candidate should then be mindful of unexpected limitations and choose appropriate activities.

Familiarity with, or willingness to learn about, neurodivergence is essential. The young person enjoys photography, trips to the beach, crafting and go karting. They are a fun-loving character, who has an excellent sense of humour and is looking to build meaningful relationships with others.

The role is based in Scunthorpe. Due to the nature of the role an enhanced DBS will need to be completed, which we will fund.
