We have an exciting opportunity within our Housing Advice Team for a Housing Advice Initial Assessment Officer to join us.
This is a key front-line role within our Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Service, providing the first point of contact for customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You will carry out detailed initial assessments, offering advice, support, and signposting to ensure that every person receives the right help at the earliest possible stage.
You will work as part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team that is committed to preventing homelessness, reducing rough sleeping, and supporting people to achieve positive housing outcomes. The role involves triaging new approaches, undertaking initial homelessness assessments under the Homelessness Reduction Act, and ensuring that cases are progressed swiftly and effectively in line with statutory duties and local policy.
North Lincolnshire Council is committed to ending homelessness through early intervention, partnership working, and person-centred practice. We believe everyone should have access to a safe, secure home, and we work closely with our partners to make sure that anyone facing housing difficulties gets the right support, at the right time, to achieve the right outcome.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an organised, confident communicator who can work calmly under pressure. You should be empathetic, approachable, and able to balance customer care with the need for robust assessment and decision-making. Knowledge of housing law, homelessness duties, and welfare benefits would be an advantage, though full training will be provided.
