Based in one of our Cemeteries in North Lanarkshire, you will be responsible for the provision of an interment service and the general maintenance of a cluster of cemeteries in the area. The working area for this post is Pather Cemetery, Wishaw; however, you may be required to cover Cemeteries in other areas, therefore must be willing and able to work across the North Lanarkshire Area.
You will have experience of grave lair excavation and the various shoring methods used including mechanic and hand excavations, general grounds maintenance tasks such as grass cutting, shrub and flower bed maintenance, use of hand tools, litter removal and be familiar with various items of grass cutting equipment. Knowledge of the legislation relating to cemeteries would also be advantageous.
Due to the sensitive nature of the post, the post holder will be required to deal tactfully and sympathetically with bereaved families as well as funeral directors and monumental masons. You must be educated to SVQ1, Standard Grade level or equivalent with good numeracy and literacy skills, and hold COTS, NAMM code of practice, and PA1 & PA6 certificates of competency. You must be able to deal with enquiries and complaints from members of the public. You must also have experience in supervising staff.
The post requires a clean and current driving licence as the post involves driving as an integral part of the role.
Work pattern: 37 hours per week - Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:00; Friday - 08:00 - 15:30
