Overview

NLC4 £26,081 - £27,318 Pro Rata

We are looking for Visitor Services Assistants to join our Museums & Collections’ team. Your base will be Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge, but you will also work from other North Lanarkshire Museums.

Your task will be to help make the museum run smoothly with tasks including guided tours of the mine, tram driving, retail support, helping with family activities and events, working in the sweetie shop, cleaning, providing information about the museum exhibits and local area, locking and alarming buildings, and most importantly ensuring visitors have a pleasant and memorable visit.

To be successful in the post, you should enjoy working with people, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work practices.

Your previous work experience of working with a range of audiences, retail experience, and teamwork will add to your success in this post.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.

Work Patterns

  1. Post 1 & 2 (8 hours per week) - Saturday & Sunday, 12pm to 4pm
  2. Post 3 (6 hours per week) - Wednesday, 9.30am to 4pm (30 min unpaid break)
