We are looking for a Tramway & Historic Engineering Technician to join our Museums & Collections team. Your base will be Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge but you will work with all the museums in North Lanarkshire Council. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate.
Your role will involve a wide variety of activities that relate to the safe operation of the museum tramway and historic engineering exhibits. To be successful in the post, you should be a problem solver and enjoy working with people, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work practices. You will use your knowledge of health & safety, maintenance planning, and technical skills to make your role a success. You will also have a willingness to complete all necessary training and enjoy working with volunteers. Your previous work experience with historic vehicles will add to your success in this post.
A full clean UK driving licence is essential. You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role. This post involves weekend working as part of a 5 over 7 shift pattern. Working hours vary between 8am and 5:30pm.
Interviews are likely to take place at Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life three weeks after the closing date.
