Operating within Calderhead High School, you will provide a back-up service to the Design and Technology Department. Your duties will include care and maintenance of hand tools, preparation of wood and metal for classes, receiving, checking, storing, and documenting equipment and materials, making teaching aids, and assisting teaching staff. You will also be responsible for maintenance of machinery, including cyclical maintenance on portable and fixed machinery, and providing technical support to other departments within the school as requested by the Senior Technician.
You must possess an SVQ3, HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, along with extended experience working with machinery and hand tools. Good communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently or as part of a team and to work responsibly with children. Possession of relevant qualifications in areas such as Computing, Electronics, or Electrical is desirable.
You will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Group Scheme (PVG) member prior to starting this post.
