Based within one of our five Children’s Houses in North Lanarkshire, you will be part of the staff team responsible for the day-to-day care of the young people in looked after and accommodated care, consistent with National Standards, Council and Service policies. You will contribute to the normal development of young people through the provision of a healthy lifestyle, a variety of appropriate stimulating activities and a consistent caring adult role model implementing practices and activities which meet their assessed needs, encouraging them to develop to their full potential.

In partnership with key colleagues/partners, you will also contribute to assessment and care planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as required. You will prepare written reports and care plans and contribute to the implementation of care plans.

You must have an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or HNC in Social Care or one of the qualifications included on the list for registration as a residential child care worker with SSSC. You should also have moderate experience of working in social care, either in a personal or voluntary capacity. You will be flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic with an ability to work to tight deadlines and a commitment to inspire children and young people to achieve the best outcomes.

You will be required to work towards SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care plus HNC in Social Care, within timescales set by SSSC, should you not already have these qualifications. You should also have the ability to undertake a Physical Capacity test in line with Promoting Positive Behaviour Guidance. Experience of working within Residential Childcare is desirable.

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role and you will also be registered or eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
