North Lanarkshire Council is delighted to have been awarded significant funding to ensure that people from North Lanarkshire have a say in shaping its greener future. With the construction of an Environmental Justice Map and co-creation with residents, your work will help prioritise investment and develop designs for 18 future projects to enhance existing nature networks and create people and habitat connections in our urban open spaces.
This funding brings an exciting opportunity for an knowledgeable, enthusiastic and customer focused individual to lead the consultation and design stage of this groundbreaking project. Culminating in the production of a 10-year Greenspace Infrastructure Plan, you will work with our communities to design vibrant, resilient and beautiful spaces, where health inequalities and climate vulnerabilities can be minimised and opportunities for nature and net zero maximised. Funding is available to commission consultants to assist in various aspects of the project.
Joining our Community Greenspace Team, based at Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell, you will play the lead role in working with communities, encouraging ideas and motivating engagement in this exciting project to connect people with nature in the areas where it is currently most difficult to achieve those linkages.
To be a success in this role you will have proven skills in communication and in project management, managing multiple changing demands with tight deadlines. You will bring experience of developing funding models and managing budgets across multiple project streams. As Programme Manager, you will be able to demonstrate success in the development of medium-term plans and strategies.
With a degree, diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you will have significant experience in working on strategic projects in a relevant field. With strong communication skills you will be confident in public speaking and in writing reports for multi agency audiences. You will also be able to demonstrate skills in mapping software such as ArcGis. With a thorough understanding of health and wellbeing benefits linked to the environment, you will share our passion for the project and have experience in managing external grant funding and the associated reporting mechanisms.
You will require a flexible approach to work and have the ability to work some evenings and weekends. You must also have a current driving licence and be able to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire.
You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.
These roles are temporary for 30 months and are supported by funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
