North Lanarkshire Council is recruiting experienced and enthusiastic Mental Health Officers to support early discharge planning in a hospital setting. The successful candidate will work with patients, liaise with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure statutory mental health reporting and legislative duties are completed accurately.
Responsibilities
- Provide person‑centred assessment and engagement with mental health service users.
- Write statutory mental health reports and fulfil other legislative duties.
- Support early discharge planning and partnership working with health professionals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Qualified for the role: CQSW, Diploma in Social Work, BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent.
- Post‑qualifying Mental Health Officer Award or equivalent.
- Knowledge of mental health, capacity and human rights legislation.
- Strong communication skills and experience of partnership working.
- Must be a PVG Scheme member and registered or eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Working Patterns & Location
- University Hospital Monklands – Monday to Thursday: 08:45 am – 04:45 pm; Friday: 08:45 am – 04:15 pm.
- University Hospital Wishaw General – Monday to Thursday: 08:45 am – 04:45 pm; Friday: 08:45 am – 04:15 pm.
These posts are temporary for 12 months.
