You will play a key role in shaping the future of North Lanarkshire. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing bespoke advice to potential developers to assist with the statutory consent process to facilitate increased investment and deliver positive outcomes.
- Assisting in the delivery of an effective service for Regulatory Services; dealing with all aspects of the Building Standards function including carrying out building warrant assessments, site inspections, dealing with dangerous buildings and working closely with Private Sector Solutions colleagues.
- Your good communication skills and proactive customer service approach will ensure you provide a professional and solutions driven service to architects, developers and other customers including the supervision of the day-to-day operational building standards and enforcement duties in support of the overall management of the team.
- Contributing to the review of and further development of the end-to-end process for statutory consents to improve the efficiency of the statutory consent process in North Lanarkshire.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in a Building Standards related discipline
- RICS/CABE Chartered Building Standards Surveyor
- Considerable experience in Local Authority Building Standards setting
- Experience of plan vetting and assessment of major projects
- In-depth knowledge of building regulations and all other legislation allied to the Building Standards function together with varied experience and an understanding of the construction industry.
- Awareness or familiarity with current and upcoming development pressures such as data centres is desirable.
- Current driving licence is desirable.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby service.
