Working between the Civic Square offices in Motherwell and from home, you will be part of a team with a remit to design, develop and maintain the Council's ICT infrastructure. Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, you will help to support the council to meet the needs of its internal customers, utilising IT solutions that make best use of technology in the provision of efficient, secure and effective services.

This role will assist in the delivery of a wide range of ICT infrastructure services, providing support for the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective and secure ICT Infrastructure which supports delivery of Council services and priorities. This post is within the Secure Access Team within Infrastructure. The primary focus of this team is to support the edge technologies that manage and provide internet access to Corporate staff and schools and digital access to public services.

You will have knowledge of ICT infrastructure technologies, particularly firewall, web filtering, Web application Firewall, remote access and other secure access service edge solutions. This role would suit someone who has a strong grasp of networking and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and fault finding.

With an SVQ4/HND/Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject you will have some work experience in an ICT infrastructure support role, be a good communicator who can work collegiately and can interpret customer requirements. Experience of modern digital office tools is required as is a basic knowledge of ICT infrastructure technologies, along with previous experience of supporting the delivery of projects, planning and scheduling.

As a developing IT Professional you will be able to demonstrate problem solving skills, be self-motivated and organised, be able to work to targets and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good oral and written communication skills are also essential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of a wide range of ICT infrastructure services, support the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective and secure ICT infrastructure that underpins the delivery of Council services and priorities.
  • Provide support for secure edge technologies such as firewalls, Web filtering, Web application Firewalls, remote access and other secure access service edge solutions.

  • Some work experience in an ICT infrastructure support role
  • Knowledge of ICT infrastructure technologies including firewalls, web filtering, Web application Firewalls, remote access and secure access solutions

  • Ability to work methodically to troubleshoot and fault find
  • Self‑motivated, organised and able to meet targets
  • Familiarity with modern digital office tools

This is a temporary post for 23 months.

Work Pattern

Monday – Thursday: 08:45 – 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
Friday: 08:45 – 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
Total: 35 hours per week
