Overview

Learning Assistant (Universal) – NLC4 at St Mary’s Primary, Caldercruix, North Lanarkshire Council. The role involves assisting children who have additional support needs in their school environment. This post is 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm. Internal applicants must apply via MySELF.

Responsibilities

  • Support children in their school environment and assist with classroom activities as required.
  • Care for children and assist with personal hygiene when necessary.
  • Maintain stocks of hygiene sundries.
  • Attend to daily reception and departure of children and provide messenger or escort duties.
  • Assist with classroom duties such as preparation of classwork and materials, setting up and operating teaching aids, recording programmes, and reprographic work.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Recent experience working with children in a voluntary capacity or in a school setting is essential.
  • Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required.
  • Experience of working with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable.
  • Prior to commencing, you must become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member.

Working Conditions

This is a 25 hour post with the pattern Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm.
