Overview
Learning Assistant (ASN) opportunity at Glencryan School, North Lanarkshire Council to assist children who have additional support needs.
As Learning Assistant (ASN) you will work with children some of whom have needs of a severe or complex nature, to support them in their school environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist children with additional support needs in the classroom and school environment.
- Care for children, assist with personal hygiene requirements and help maintain stocks of hygiene sundries where necessary.
- Support daily reception and departure of children and undertake messenger or escort duties.
- Participate in classroom related duties such as preparation of classwork and materials, setting up and operating teaching aids, recording programmes and reprographic work.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Recent experience working with children on a voluntary capacity or in a school situation is essential.
- Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Willingness to undertake specific NHS or Education training as required.
- Experience of working with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable.
- Prior to commencing in this role, you are required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member.
Work Pattern
27.5 hours per week โ Monday to Friday, 09:00am to 3:30pm.
