As a result of a recent restructure, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly established Transportation Planning team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes. In this role you will assist with developing and delivering the Council’s Local Transport Strategy and Active Travel Strategy. You will also work closely with our key project partners to develop substantial capital programmes of work in line with The Plan for North Lanarkshire, including active travel and public transport infrastructure schemes. You will also assist in the preparation and submission of funding applications to external agencies and partners, including SPT, Sustrans and Transport Scotland.
You should have experience in Travel Planning to assist the Council in minimising the impact of development on our network and also in Public Transport and Active Travel Planning and Scheme Development to assist in reducing carbon emissions and improving health and wellbeing in North Lanarkshire. With an HNC, or equivalent level qualification, in a relevant discipline, you will have significant knowledge and experience in Transportation Planning. Ideally you will have experience of collaborative partnership working with key project partners including Glasgow City Region, SPT, and Sustrans.
You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a good understanding and knowledge of transportation policy, legislation, and initiatives at local, regional, and national levels.
With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports and with experience of presenting information in public forums. You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate an agile model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire with occasional travel throughout the Glasgow City Region to undertake the duties of this post.
Work pattern: 35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break) Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
