About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team and help ensure our school environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors. As a Cleaner, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of hygiene across the school. You should be able to work independently as well as part of a wider team, demonstrate strong communication skills, and bring a flexible and positive approach to your daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene across the school, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete cleaning duties.
  • Use cleaning equipment and materials effectively, following Health & Safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial cleaning desirable.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment, materials and associated Health & Safety requirements.
  • Understanding of safe working practices advantageous.
  • Candidate must join the PVG Scheme before starting; the scheme will be arranged by North Lanarkshire Council.

Working Patterns & Locations

  • Keir Hardie Primary School (1 Post): Monday - Friday: 11:30am - 12:30pm
  • St David's & Plains Primary School (1 Post): Monday - Friday: 11:30am - 12:30pm

Benefits

  • Salary: NLC1 Β£14.12 per hour, effective from 1st April 2026.
  • For casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked as total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip.
  • You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
  • 27 days annual leave and 6 public holidays.
  • Flexible working policy available.
