North Lanarkshire Council, as one of Scotland's largest local authorities, is leading an exciting and ambitious regeneration programme for its town centres and surrounding areas as part of its plans for inclusive economic growth. Working with a variety of partners, the Enterprise and Communities service has a key role in guiding this regeneration towards sustainable development.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Technical & Design Group to provide a Senior Civil Engineering Technician service relating to the Council's extensive Corporate portfolio of properties. You will be joining a Service which strives for excellence in service delivery and works well with both partner organisations and the general construction sector.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary environment and be responsible for cost estimating, preparation of contract documents, payments and contract administration on civil engineering projects. As Senior Civil Engineering Technician, you will be part of the Technical & Design Group. You will be involved in all aspects of the traditional civil engineering role, including procurement and contract management.
You will have particular responsibility for providing advice, guidance and support to Civil Engineering Technicians within the Group, and taking a lead role in high value and more complex civil engineering projects.
You should be educated to SVQ4, HND, degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Civil Engineering and be eligible for Graduate or Technician membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (M). You should have considerable post qualification experience within the design and construction industry, experience of computerised design and billing systems, and preferably have knowledge of public sector procurement and current industry standard forms of construction contract conditions.
You will require a full driving licence to undertake the duties of this post.
35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break). This includes 27 days annual leave and 6 public holidays, and a wide range of benefits available to you.
